 FROM CELEBRATION TO TRAGEDY: Heartbreak in Los Angeles as Family Pet is Fatally Shot During NBA Championship Celebration. 
A night of pure joy and sports celebration has ended in absolute devastation for a family in Canoga Park, Los Angeles, leaving a neighborhood mourning the loss of a beloved companion.
On Saturday evening, a family was inside their Jordan Avenue condominium, filled with excitement and celebrating the New York Knicks’ NBA championship win. The atmosphere was loud, joyful, and full of cheering. Witnesses say the dog’s owner was celebrating with her family when a neighbor, hearing the intense screaming from inside the building, called authorities to request a welfare check on a woman just after 8:00 p.m. 
Los Angeles police officers responded to the scene. According to the police department, as officers arrived to check on the situation, the family dog rushed at them in the condo hallway.
Tragically, officers fired their weapons, killing the family pet. 
The dog, named Jameson, was a gentle 2-year-old Golden Retriever, Saint Bernard, and Poodle mix. A heartbreaking photograph taken just moments before the incident shows Jameson happily wearing a New York Knicks shirt, completely dynamic with the family’s sports energy.
The dog owner’s son later shared that his mother was simply screaming in pure excitement over the basketball victory and that Jameson was a highly energetic, loving, but completely non-violent dog. 
Heart-wrenching cellphone video captured the raw, emotional aftermath in the hallway. The owner can be heard crying out in complete shock and agony: “Oh my God! I cannot believe this is happening… We were just celebrating the Knicks.”
Neighbors across the street reported hearing the loud, ecstatic cheering earlier in the evening, followed by the sudden, unexpected sound of gunfire in an area completely unaccustomed to violence. Now, a beautiful, growing memorial filled with flowers and tributes rests in the hallway where neighbors watched Jameson pass away. 
The exact circumstances and protocols that led up to this fatal officer-involved shooting are currently under official review.
