Mazli began his brave career back on March 24, 2021, stepping onto the pavement alongside his dedicated partner, Corporal Tyler Willis. Over the years, this dynamic duo became a pillar of public safety—with Mazli proving himself time and time again as a deeply loyal partner, an elite tracker, and a fierce protector of the community.
But Mazli’s journey wasn’t just defined by his sharp tracking skills; it was defined by his unbelievable, inspiring resilience. Throughout his years on patrol, this brave pup fought through and overcame multiple serious, life-threatening medical battles, including:
A terrifying bout with gastric torsion (bloat)
A complex auto-immune disease
Multiple intense surgeries
Through every single hurdle, Mazli’s working spirit never wavered. His pure love for the job and his unbreakable bond with Cpl. Willis pulled him through every recovery, landing him right back in the shotgun seat doing exactly what he loved most.
Now, it is finally time for this hardworking hero to trade in his badge for a life of pure luxury. The absolute best news? Retirement doesn’t mean goodbye. Mazli is officially being adopted by Cpl. Willis, meaning these two brothers-in-arms get to stay together forever.
To celebrate his transition to civilian life, Cpl. Willis shared a few adorable, fun facts about Charles County’s favorite retiree:
Favorite Snack: Literally anything he can score from the Chick-fil-A drive-thru!
Favorite Hobby: Splashing around and swimming in the river.
His Retirement Plans: Spending his days relaxing on the couch, exploring new places, catching Washington Nationals baseball games on TV, and enjoying well-deserved beach days!
Mazli might not fully understand why he isn’t heading to work tomorrow morning, but he has more than earned this rest. His days ahead will be filled with endless belly rubs, premium treats, and zero alarms.
